16th September 2015
Another beautiful day for a road trip over several Col's and visiting villages south east of Bagneres de Bigorre.

We found a great viewing spot the other side of the Col D'Aspin

First village was Arreau on the rivers d'Aure & du Lounon, that merge.  Seen from a great height with 20 times zoom.

One example of the very old and beautiful buildings found here.

We got our telescopic walking sticks here.  1/4 of the price that we would have to pay in Australia.

Amazing how these buildings cope with these rivers.

With one of the locals. The Basque!

Chateau des Nestes (AKA the Information Office) on the left.

After following the valley de Louron and over the Col de Peyresourde we headed to Mont, nestled up high in the mountain, with 41 people listed as residents.  It also has an original 3rd century Roman Church.

One of the few flat spots in the village to stand up.

Amazingly peaceful Church.  It escaped all the wars since its construction and its original paintings survive to this day.

We decided not to go to St lary as the weather was closing in from the Spanish Border so we went looking for Alain's Creperie near the village of Loudenvielle.  His shop was crushed by an avalanche up at the Col.  Well Alain had set up a Fromagerie but didn't say that there were no crepes so we bought a wheel of Brebis cheese.  We had some laughs about the no-crepes shop and bid farewell.  Considering that we found his place near a river with little sign posting is testament to our ability to find food.

Home via the Col d'Asprin again.

Some German cyclists also made it to the top!

Awesome view of the Pic-du-Midi.
