3rd Sep 2015
Our long awaited visit to Lascaux II today! Which was absolutely fantastic.  We were not sure we were going to make it in time due to traffic flow issues around Montignac. Our guide was very good  in English until Guy asked her something about hyenas. Lol!

We had a leisurely lunch at St Leon-sur-Vezere, at a little café on the banks of the river Vezere.
It is also a very pretty little village with a very old church (3rd century), castle and rambling little laneways everywhere.

Next stop was Chateau de Losse. We had seen this chateau previous visits from the other side of the river, which makes a fantastic sight.

Started the tour of the gardens with these! But of course.

For the evening................La Piece de Resistance

Layotte is a  the little auberge in the forest near Tursac.  With a unique menu that consists of what Michelin Chef Regis Genyarde sources locally in the forest and makes it all on site.  The ingredients are also unusual such as dandelion wine and dessert sauces made with dandelion, rose, pine needles to have with the cake. People come from far and wide, the couple next to us were a newly married couple from a seaside village near Nantes.  The quantities of food were extraordinaire and you can only eat like this once every two years.
